Twilight’s New Moon Soundtrack The Best Soundtrack This Year?

No. Despite the potential artist line-up I would say that the music director has about as much taste in music as the film has for literature. Apart from top notch material from Death Cab and the Editors, the hour long playlist amounts to no more than b-side nominations. B-sides for B grade movie? Grizzly Bear fared not so bad as was Sea Wolf and The Killer’s contribution. Thom Yorke proves again that he is overrated. I love the BRMC but their song was a joke. Which leads to the question, just how much of a sell-out  was this really? Death Cab remains guilty but the jury is still out on the rest. Was it a poor compilation on the movie’s part or are the indie labels less ’sell-outs’ by throwing them what nobody really wanted anyways? Death Cab croons in their opening track:

But always understand
That everything, everything ends

I guess we must be prepared then.
Listen to some of the tracks over at Earmilk.

As far as great soundtracks this year go, I think that (500) Days of Summer has the best shot at it.
