Bullet Point Review: Story Is Elementary My Dear Ritchie.

I was skeptical and a little worried as I sat down to watch Sherlock Holmes on Tuesday.
- Both Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law were phenomenal here, and their chemistry was an uncommon delight to watch.
- The musical score was fitting, smart and memorable. A must have soundtrack.
- The set designs and visuals were gorgeous and atmospheric. Hopefully they will be equally impressive on domestic screens too.
- The dialogue and scenes were funny, witty and well paced.
- The plot was absolutely terrible, bland and unoriginal. The film’s ultimate downfall.
- While I accepted much of Holmes’ modernizations, they failed to give him a case worthy of a Holmes story. Magic? Petty conjuring tricks? Really? That was lazy writing.
- The villain was uninspiring and completely without menace.
- If not for the lead actors, I would have dozed off during this movie. Has the max viewing potential of two times.
- Reminded me too much of Young Sherlock Holmes. Too much of a rip-off?
- Drew a little from Without A Clue as well. Wild Holmes, cool-headed Watson. Both also had a brilliant cast.
- Considering the obvious setup up for a sequel with Profesor Moriarty, there is a hope that there maybe a ‘Dark Knight’ in its future. It is heart warming to know Downey Jr. and Law will be back together soon.
Summary:
Had it not been for Downey Jr. and Law, I would most likely have been bored silly. Due to it’s complete lack of story there is little reason to see it again. 2/5
